Khazanah Nasional Bhd today announced the opening of its fourth regional office in Istanbul to facilitate investments in Turkey and the region, which are of strategic interest to Khazanah, its investee companies and Malaysia.
"To date, Khazanah and several of its investee companies have invested a total of more than US$1 billion (RM3.18 billion) in Turkey," Khazanah said in a statement.
Khazanah said these investments have demonstrated a profitable and steady rate of growth as reflected in increased market value.
Managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar said the establishment of the Turkey Regional Office was another milestone for Khazanah as the government's investment arm strategically expanded its operations into growth markets and seek opportunities overseas that can help create sustainable value for Malaysia.

The regional office was opened by Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Babacan. Also present at the event was Khazanah's deputy chairman Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
Khazanah also has regional offices in Beijing, Mumbai and San Francisco.
Khazanah Nasional is the strategic investment fund of the Malaysian government entrusted to hold and manage the commercial assets of the government and to undertake strategic investments.-- Bernama
